Ibiza – A Winter Wonderland

Winter sees Ibiza in its most naturally beautiful state. Fresh, sunny days and crisp evenings are conducive to outdoor pursuits and there are miles of serene countryside and secluded coastline to explore. Walking and cycling (even e biking) prove healthy alternatives to travelling by car and give the chance to breathe in the fresh pine scented air, feel the cool sea breeze and marvel at the vibrant sunsets.

Ibiza Town Hall alongside private companies including Ibiza Outdoors posts a full calendar of events taking in the most captivating destinations. Island jewels such as the scenic beach of Cala D’Hort with its breathtaking backdrop of Es Vedra, the spectacle of Time and Space near Cala Conta and the stunning northern aspect of Cala Xarraca are just a few of the scheduled guided tours that can be booked online.

Cycling and e-bike, walking and hiking routes can be found on the website of the Consell Illes Balears. If you prefer to go it alone there is a wealth of treasures to be discovered on foot or via two wheels and a great selection of local cafes and Tapas Bars open in the winter months for when it is time to take a break.

If self-discovery is more to your liking Ibiza provides the perfect setting for courses in spiritual wellbeing. As an island with its roots in a bohemian lifestyle it has grown in popularity for travellers looking for a simpler way of life surrounded by the bounty of nature. Many venues are open year-round offering mindfulness via yoga and meditation tailored to the individual. Relaxing in paradise – a real treat for the soul.

Permanent residents of Ibiza and visitors alike can take full advantage of the mild Mediterranean winters by getting active. The popularity of sports like Padel Tennis and the accessibility of open-air eco-gyms allows even those who are working to enjoy a fuller life in a calm, idyllic environment.

Before Ibiza welcomes back the tourists in summer, the island is decorated and scented by the pure-white almond blossoms that start to bloom in February and March. As a pre-cursor to the Easter celebrations this yearly indicator of spring is a reminder that the island remains a haven for nature.
