everything ibiza Properties – We have moved
Rural village life centres around ancient churches and beautiful, rustic squares, so being in the heart of the real Ibiza is what initially attracted us to re-locate to Sant Josep. Since the move however, we have been even busier and far more productive. From our new premises in this thriving community we have been able to source many more quality properties for sale, some of them on our doorstep, and potential buyers can reach us easily with good links to the airport just 20 minutes away.
Perhaps some of the reasons behind the good feeling is the village itself. Close to Ibiza’s highest hill Sa Talaia, life here feels authentic. Sant Josep has everything a country town should have, a selection of fine restaurants, shops, bars and pavement cafes all set against the backdrop of lush, natural pine forests, illuminated by the vibrant west-coast sunsets and just 10 minutes from the endless activity of San Antonio Bay. So, we haven’t moved far but certainly forward.
Welcome to Summer 2016
April is when Ibiza starts to wake from relative hibernation. For those who enjoyed a winter of plesant coastal walks and idyllic country bike rides in the ever clement climate of this stunning island, it is time to prepare for what promises to be a bumper season for overseas visitors.
Bars and restaurants are opening daily in every resort, and planning for the onslaught of summer trade. For some, such as Villa Mercedes in San Antonio, Royalty in Santa Eulalia and numerous bars and restaurants in Ibiza town, it is business as usual, but with a much higher footfall than in winter.
Ocean Beach Club in San Antonio opens its Poolside Sessions on 30th April from noon to 9pm. They are offering free entry until 14th May providing cool music, bar and restaurant services. This smart, outdoor venue is kicing off the season in its own unique style.
Pacha in Ibiza town is hosting a ‘Loving Ibiza Festival’ on 29th April and ‘Season Warm Up’ on 30th April, ahead of its summer calendar of events.
Upcoming Events – May
Ibiza International Film Festival
Taking place for the 9th year running, this festival celebrates worldwide independent film making with free public screenings of international productions in various locations all over the island. The byword is “the independent spirit” and with the backing of film industry giants, such as John Hurt & Val Kilnmer, the Ibiza IFF host a well subscribed event where innovative producers compete to win the coveted Falcó d’Or award, named after Eleonora’s Falcon, a native, feathered inhabitant of Ibiza and Formentera.
Spring Flower Festival (Festa de Maig)
Santa Eulalia is the venue for this celebration of spring which takes place on the first Sunday in May. The event commerorates a historic incident in which the old church, located in the summit of S’Església Vella hill, caved in shortly after mass, amazingly, without causing injury to a single member of the congregation Legend also has it that passing ships heard the church bells ringing from the sea bed, warning them to avoid the nearby coastline. In rememberance of this miracle, a solemn mass is followed by the parading of flowers through the streets, horse-drawn coaches and vintage car displays also assist in providing a singularly colourful spectacle, unique to the town and unlike any other Balearic Island festival.
Ibiza (Eivissa) Medieval festival
Each year during the second weekend of May, this festival provides a vibrant combination of live music, street entertainment and market stalls. Set in the ancient city of D’Alt Vila this is a relatively new event, hosted in the heart of the old town to celebrate it being declared a World Heritage site. Many of the museums and art galleries are opened free of charge as the public are invited to share in Ibiza’s Medieval history. Minstrels, craftsmen artists, jewellers and confectioners gather inside the walls of the city, with spectacular views over the coast and harbour, in a complimentary party that lasts three days and attracts over 100.000 people.
